When I was a kid I hated getting family portraits done. My parents made me put on clothes I'd never be caught dead wearing, then we'd trudge to a portrait studio to sit on some velvet covered blocks in front of a boring backdrop and put on fake smiles that always looked like fake smiles. There was nothing authentic about it. That's why I chose to shoot families in their natural environment or a place that feels natural and real to them. I want to document you and your life. I don't want to force you into a box where you don't fit. I want to show the real you.
